o

Hon-AAC and To~al Return Flow Credi~s

Yuma Proiect - Reserva~ion Division CUnassianedl - These returns are from
drains which collect return flow in a manner that does not allow any
determination to be made how much of the flow comes from the Indian Unit or
the Bard Unit of the Reservation Division. Nonetheless, the flows are
quantifiable and need to be eharged to the State of California. The
eomputation of these flows may be done using the following formula'

'. )

c:~
....
~
~

Reservation Division Returns (Unaassigned) = 4 ~ SB - AAC MRF

where the terms on the right hand side of the equation have the same meaning
as those used in Section lA. and the AAC MRF is the total measured return flow
from the AAC for the time period. If the terms for the MRF from Seetion lA
are substituted into the above formula it ean be seen that the unassigned
return flows for the Reservation Division are'

Reservation Division Returns (Unassigned) = 4 ~ sa - SB + 11 - 3 - 2 - 6 + 7.

Sinee the flow at sa (Araz) and Reservation Main Drain No.4 is the full flow
from the Reservation Division drainage system. it can be seen that the
unassigned flows are simply those Reservation Division drain flows not
aecounted for in the AAC MRF. (See drainage facilities map and preceding sub-
section for data sources.) It may be well to note here that some of the
drainage credited as return flow from the Reservation Division to the State of
California is loss from the Yuma Main Canal of water diverted by Arizona
entities.

Ci~ of Yuma - The total return flows for the City of Yuma have the following
four co..ponen'ts:

1.) AAC returns already described in Section lA
2.) Returns froJA the City of YUII\a Water Treatment Plant
3.) The difference between the total water diverted at the Munieipal
Water Plant and that pumped to storage for use at that loeation
4.) The difference between the total water diverted at the East Mesa
PUII\ping Plant and that pumped to storage for use at that location.

The reeords for the Water Treatment Plant are obtained from YFO for monthly
and yearly aceounting. The amounts diverted and pumped to storage at the
Munieipal Water Plant and the East Mesa Pumping Plant are furnished monthly by
the City of Yuma and are filed in the Decree Accounting binder.
