(7) cloud droplet, ice crystal, and raindrop size spectra
and concentration; and (8) concentrations of seeding
materials at cloud base and within clouds.

Use of models adapted to a time-share computer accessed by
telephone through portable terminals offers a readily
available operational means of scientifically directing
cloud seeding. Model simplification will be oriented
toward field operational use through the Bureau's time-
share Environmental Data Network. More complex models,
utilizing sophisticated input, will be developed for
research use in larger computers to define and analyze in
detail the cumulus seeding interactions as well as research
on upslope, winter, frontal, and cyclonic weather modifica-
tion potentials.

Three modeling developments that are most needed for early
improved operations in the High Plains are:
1. Simplified models for field operations that inte"
grate minimal input, have efficient internal sub-
routine programing, and give readily understandable
outputs
2. Improved research models capable of describing and
evaluating two unresolved cumulus problems - complex
intercloud and downwind reactions and clouds with
significant wind shear

22
