<br />Elephant Butte Reservoir.--Water-stage recorder in NW\ sec. 30, T. 13 S., R. 3 W., at dam on
<br />Rio Grande. Storage began Jan. 6, 1915; qapacity, 2,137,200 acre-feet at gage height
<br />4,407.0 ft (crest of spillway), by survey of 1969. Datum of gage is 43.3 ft above mean sea
<br />level, datum of 1929. Water is used for power development and irrigation in New Mexico and
<br />Texas. Records furnished by Bureau of Reclamation.

<br />gage height 4,182.0 ft (above which spillway gates open automatically). Datum of gage is
<br />43.3 ft above mean sea level, datum of 1929. 100,000 acre-ft of storage reserved for
<br />flood control. Records furnished by Bureau of Reclamation.
