Encephalitis is the most important mosquito-borne disease <br />in the United States and in the proposed project area. Equine <br />encephalitis cases occurred in Ouray and/or adjoining counties <br />during nine years of the period 1939 through 1955. <br /> <br />7. Extremely prolific production of mosquitoes have been found <br />in meadowlands and roadside ditches in the vicinity of Ridgway. <br /> <br />8.
