Colorado River water is ,taken at the dam's east .abutment'
through the Gila Desilting Works into the Gila Gravity' Main Canal. The
water flows generally southeasterly. for about 15 miles to a point where the
Gila Gravity Main Canal COllnects to the Wellton-MQhawk Canal. The latter
canal then carries the water up the Gila Valley on a ,course generally parallel
to the Gila lUver to a 'point southwest of Wellton.
