<br />";;..;1:1 <br /> <br />v <br /> <br />/8 <br /> <br />MET R 0 POL I T ,\ N W,\ T E H D 1ST R leT <br /> <br />", <br />I <br /> <br />Electric Power Company, San Diego Gas and Electric Company, <br />and the Arizona power organizations, both public and private. <br />Representatives of the California Public Utilities Commi"sion also <br />attend the meetings of the committee, <br />An agreement between allottees of Hoover Dam energy for con- <br />tinuing until May 31, 1951 the power supply to the Nevada systems <br />near the City of Las Vegas, through facilities at Hoover Dam <br />assigned to the l"e of the District, was executed by the District and <br />other interested parties, In the apportionment of generating costs, <br />power delivered under this contract is considered to be a part of <br />the Edison Company's load. A similar contract for supplying power <br />to Boulder City, Nevada, was also executed by the District and <br />others. <br /> <br />PU'I'ka D(",>/. <br /> <br />The U, S. Bureau of Reclamation and the District cooperated in <br />the construction of Parker Dam and power plant. All construction <br />work was performed by the Bureau and the title to the power plant, <br />dam, and reservoir rests in the United States, Funds to cover the <br />entire cost of the dam and reservoir were supplied by the District. <br />Funds for the power plant were advanced by the United States and <br />approximately one half of the cost is being repaid by the District, <br />The Intake pumping plant of the Colorado River aqueduct is located <br />on the California shol'e of Lake Havasu, the reservoir created by <br />Parker Dam, and the United States has the right to divert water <br />from the lake for other Government projects, The power privilege <br />at the dam, amounting to approximately 100,000 kilowatts, was <br />originally divided equally between the District and the United <br />States, but the District share subsequently was reduced slightly by <br />reason of the obligation a"umed by the District to keep the Govern- <br />ment share of the power privilege intact after the point of diver- <br />sion of water for San Diego was changed from below Parker Dam <br />to above the dam npon the annexation of the San Diego County ~ <br />Water Authority to the Metropolitan Water District. ~ <br />The District share of the power privilege was developed by the <br />installation in 1942 and 1943 of units ~ and 4 of the plllnt, Until <br />December 13, 1952, these units are leased to the United Stlltes for <br />a (Iail)' rental of $950. which is being Ilpplied to amortize, with <br />interest at 4 per cent per Ilnnum, the District share of the cost of <br />the plant. During the period of this lease the entire CO"t of oper- <br />ation, maintenance, and replacement of the dam, reservoir. and <br />
