", ' <br />'- ~: oJ .- <br />94 <br /> <br />METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT <br /> <br />in the Congressional Record, an expression of the Congress dis- <br />claiming any intention of committing the United Stat.es to any in- <br />terpretation of the Colorado River Compact expressed in, or <br />implied from, the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact. <br /> <br />OTHER AGTIVITIES-Considerable work wa" done by the members <br />of the legal department in cooperation with the Colorado River <br />Board of California and the Colorado River Association in further- <br />ance of California's position in the Colorado River controversy. <br />Briefs and statements presenting California's arguments were pre- <br />pared, meetings were held with members of Congress and with <br />representatives of collaborating agencies. and public appearances <br />were made. Work aho was done on a contract relating to a power <br />supply for Boulder City and an agreement making al'lliIable to Ne- <br />vada certain generating capacity at the Hoover Dam power plant. <br /> <br />Contrac!.' <br /> <br />The terms and conditions upon which the corporate area of West <br />Basin Municipal Water District was annexed to the Metropolitan <br />Water District on July 23, 1948 required the Metropolitan Water <br />District to provide a main lateral pipe line from its Palos Verdes <br />feeder to Aviation Boulevard, together with certain necessary <br />appurtenances, to enable water to be delil'ered to the West Basin <br />District in the vicinity of Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Aviation <br />Boulevard. The West Basin District desired that this lateral pipe <br />line be extended to the vicinity of Center Street and Redondo <br />Avenue in the City of Manhattan Beach at the expense of the West <br />Basin District and requested the Metropolitan Water District to <br />arrange for the construction of the entire line to effect economies in <br />cost. A cooperative contract betwen the two districts wa~ prepared <br />and entered into by which the West Basin District deposited the <br />estimated cost of constructing the portion of the line and appur- <br />tenances chargeable to the West Basin District. amounting initially <br />to the sum of $80,000, and the Metropolitan Water District agreed <br />to arrange for the construction of the entire line upon plans and <br />specifications mutually satisfactory to the two districts and in <br />accordance with the detailed provisions of the contract. <br />Consideration was given to the preparation of a contract for the <br />sale to Orange COllnt.y 'Vater District of a specified quantity of <br />surplus unt.reated water of the Met.ropolitan Water District at a <br />st.ated price to be computed at the rate of $15 per acre-foot, the <br />specified quantity to be paid for by the vendee District and all water <br /> <br />I <br />j <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />
