' <br />~..i~t <br />R6 ~I E T R 0 POll TAN W ATE R D 1ST R I CT <br /> <br />thus became a constituent unit of The Metropolitan Water District <br />of Southern California on July 23, 1948, comprised the corporate <br />areas of the five coastal cities of E] Segundo, Manhattan Beach, <br />Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, and Palos Verdes Estates, to- <br />gether with ,uljacent unincorporated territory. <br />No other area was annexed to the Metropolitan Water District <br />as a separate unit during the fiscal year. Representatives of the <br />Chino Basin area in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties <br />continued their informal requests for annexation of these areas and <br />numerous conferences and discussions were held between these <br />representatives and the Board of Directors, committees, and staff <br />of the Metropolitan Water District. <br /> <br />Annexations of "rcas (UI"eored to COllst,itlwnt(wits other than cities <br /> <br />Each such annexation to The Metropo]itan Water District of <br />Southern California can occur only with the consent of, and upon <br />the terms and conditions fixed by, the Board of Directors of this <br />District. <br /> <br />WEST BASIN MUNIGIPAL WATER DISTRIGT-In proceedings con- <br />\., ducted by the Board of Directors of West Basin Municipal Water <br />District, the corporate area of the City of Gardena was annexed <br />to that District and to the Metropolitan Water District on <br />December 9, ] 948. <br /> <br />COASTAL MUNIGIPAL WATER DISTRIGT-The concurrent annex- <br />ation to Coastal Municipa] Water District and to the Metropoli- <br />tan Water District of the corporate area of the City of Newport <br />Beach, not theretofore included in the two districts, occurred on <br />November 29, 1948, and the concurrent annexation to these two <br />districts of certain unincorporated territory in the vicinity of <br />Corona Del Mal', designated as the lrvine's Subdivision Areas, oc- <br />curred on November 26, 194R. The proceedings for each of these <br />annexations were commenced in the pl'eceding fiscal year and were <br />conducted by the Board of Directors of Coastal Municipal Water <br />District. <br /> <br />SAN DIEGO COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY-The proceedings com- <br />menced during the preceding fiscal year for the annexation to the <br />Authority. as separate units. of the corporate areas of Santa Fe <br />lrrigation District, and of San Dieguito lrrigation District, with <br />concurrent annexation of these areas to the Metropolitan Water ~ <br />District, were completed on December 13, 1948.
