It was requested by <br />Region 7, Bureau of Reolamation, with concurrenoe by the Bureau of <br />Outdoor Recreation in a March 7, 1969 memorandum from the Regional <br />Director, Mid-Oontinent Region, to this office. <br /> <br />The updating of the estimated recreation development costs and mone- <br />tary benefits attributed to the reoreation development is required <br />at this time due to the increase in construction and recreation oosts, <br />the increase in population within the reservoir's zone of reoreation <br />influence, and the increase in vehicular traffic. <br /> <br />Regarding the latter two factors, the estimated visitor use of <br />recreation facilities in the 1966 report was based upon the 1960 <br />census data. Acoording to the JanUary 1968 population figures <br />released by the Oolorado Division 0:1.' Accounts and Oontrols 0:1.' the <br />State Budget Oftice, there were 976,026 persons living within a <br />6o-mile radius 0:1.' the proposed reservoir and the adjacent oities <br />of Denver, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Loveland. This population <br />represents an increase 0:1.' slight~ over eight percent since 1960 <br />within the:l.'oregoing described zone 0:1.' recreation influence. <br />
