TRu[ liON <br /> <br />During Fiscal Year 1973 construction <br />accomplishments Included starts on <br />both the Weld Substation, Weld County, <br />Colorado, and Tunnel No. 4 on the <br />Main Canal 01 the Navajo Indian Irriga- <br />lton Project. Siphons were replaced on <br />Fruitland Mesa Project and on the Bost. <br />wick Park Project. Two portions of the <br />Archer Substation were also com- <br />pleted Soldier Creek Dam (Bonneville <br />Unit, Central Utah Project) and Tunnels <br />No.3 and 3A on the Main Canal ollhe <br />Navajo Indian Imgation Project were <br />substantially complete at the end of the <br />liseal year. <br />A diversion tunnel was drilled al Crystal <br />Dam. Curecanti Unit, and work began <br />on the dam and powerplant structures. <br />A contract was awarded for construc- <br />tion 01 a thin-arch concrete dam and <br />powerplant at a cost of about $20,- <br />800,000-a savings of about $3,400,000 <br />over the estimated cost of an earthfill <br />dam at the same sIte. Other work this <br />year on the umt included construction <br />of an exhibit shelter and parking area <br />lor visitors at Morrow Point Dam and a <br />prelabricated metal warehouse at Mont~ <br />rose. Colorado. Work also began on <br />bituminous surlacing 01 roads and <br />parking areas at Morrow Point Dam. <br />Blue Mesa Dam, and at the Power Op- <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />eralions Center at Montrose. The Cure- <br />cant i-Crystal 115-kilovolt Transmission <br />Line extension is underway. <br /> <br />At the Glen Canyon Unit, upgrading 01 <br />viSItor lacilities continued. An addition <br />to the Page water filtration plant was <br />completed, as was an airport fire sta- <br />tion. <br /> <br />Major new starts on the Bonneville Unit <br />of the Central Utah Project were delay- <br />ed pending the processing 01 an envi- <br />ronmental statement. Work already <br />underway was continued. U.S. Highway <br />40 was relocated around the enlarged <br />Strawberry Reservoir. Soldier Creek <br />Dam was essentially complete with only <br />cleanup and some minor work remain- <br />ing. The first lifteen miles of the Jordan <br />Aqueduct were substantially complete <br />at the end of the fiscal year. Both the <br />Layout and Currant Tunnels were holed <br />through and lined with concrete. Water <br />Hollow Diversion Dam and the Layout <br />Creek stream inlet structure were com- <br />pleted. A U.S. Forest Service trail into <br />the Uinta Mountain Primitive Area was <br />relocated around the proposed Upper <br />Stillwater Reservoir. <br /> <br />In June the State ot Ulah let a contract <br />lor construction 01 tour miles 01 Inter- <br />state Highway '-15 north of Nephi, Utah. <br />The contract provides for the construc- <br />tion of two seven-loot diameter pipe <br />siphons to extend the proposed Mona- <br />Nephi Canal under the highway. An <br />estimated $150.000 will be saved by <br />building these siphons now rather than <br />when the canal is constructed, <br /> <br />Construction olthe drainage system for <br />the Emery County Project began with <br />the award of a contract lor live and a <br />half mites 01 closed drains. <br /> <br />A corrugated metal siphon in the exist- <br />ing Vernal DItch was replaced in the <br />Bostwick Park Project area <br />Two welded steel pipe siphons in the <br />existing Gould Canal In the Fruitland <br />Mesa Project area were replaced <br />Improvements on the Main Canal of the <br />Hammond Project continued <br />A contract for the Antler Valley Drain of <br />the Sill Project was awarded and com- <br />pleted <br /> <br />Improvements on several features 01 <br />the Eden Project were accomplished. <br /> <br />Construction was completed on a lorty- <br />three-mile segment and begun on an- <br />other twelve-mile segment 01 the 230- <br />kv transmissl~n line Irom Archer Sub- <br />station in Wyoming to Weld Substation <br />in Colorado. Stages 02 and 03 con- <br />struction on the Archer Substation was <br />completed and Stage 01 construction <br />on the Weld Substation begun. <br />On the Navajo Indian Irrigation Project <br />in New Mexico, work continued on <br />about thirteen mites of Main Canal. <br />Tunnels 3 and 3A were substantially <br />complete. <br />The existing highway around Fonte- <br />nelle Reservoir, Seedskadee Project, <br />was rehabilitated <br />
