It was assumea that the annual
flow of all ungaged areas over 7600 feet in elevation varies in
proportion to the annual flow of Hermosa Creek.

Basin-wide relationship between mean basin elevation and runoff
per square mile. Average annual runoff per square mile for 23 gaging
stations in the San Juan Basin in Colorado was plotted against mean
basin elevation. Average runoff for the various gages was adjusted
to represent the 1951 through 1980 study period. Gaging stations
affected by significant irrigation diversions were not included. The
relationship of runoff versus mean basin elevation is shown on
"Figure If. Information concerning the individual drainage basins
is presented in Table 1.

Ignacio precipitation records 1951-1980. Ungaged areas tributary
to the Animas River with mean basin elevations of less than 7600
feet were assumed to contribute runoff in amounts proportional
to precipitation at Ignacio. Monthly rainfall of less than one inch

(~~,

il. "~
