<br />Y.lCphee Dam will be greatly inhance1 as a result of water releases made to main-
<br />tain a year-round live stream. Although whitewater roating may be altered
<br />somewhat because of project operations, good toating days will be grouped to-
<br />gether and accurately predicted in years when spring spills are forecast.

<br />Groundbreaking cerffiOnies were held SeptEmber 24, 1977 at the Great cut Dike
<br />Site. hbrk rmder this contract is atout 50% a=plete with the scheduled comple-
<br />tion anticipated in September 1984. Acquisition of right-of.:.way for McPhee
<br />F.eservoir is atout 98 oercent =nolete.

<br />Gumi, Ltd. of S9uth San Francisco, California was awarded the contract.in the
<br />arrormt of $11,686,290.00 on April 15, 1982.

<br />The cultural resource mitigation program, :under a contract awarded in June 1978
<br />to the University of Colorado, is atout 65% =nplete. The program will be com-
<br />pleta:1 in Decenber 1985 and a small mJseum will be built to, ex.'1ibit the results_'
<br />of the excavations. The progi-am is one of the largest in North Arrerica.
