USDA continues to focus upon

onfarm improvements but has strengthened coordination in the

planning of its canal and lateral group projects as part of
the Central Utah proj ect and Reclamation's salini ty proj ect.
The preferred Reclamation plan, completed in FY 1985,
consists of lining 55 miles of canals and laterals. An

integrated planning report/draft environmental statement has
been prepared and was released to the public on August 25,
1986. Reclamation is also involved with improvements on
approximately 36 additional miles of canals and laterals as
part of the Central utah Project. In both cases, the off-
farm lateral improvements are compatible with the onfarm
program and are planned in co~junction with USDA activities.
USDA implementation emphasizes the use of salinity

control/water management plans in conjunction with ACP cost-

-10-
