The issues that face the District in the next 5.10 years are: Supply and demand. the growth in the Grand Valley is most likely going to continue at Its present rate or increase. We must have the ability to stay ahead of the demand for water at the moSt effiCient COSts possible. Are we currently on track to do this! Taste. I have heard from many residents in our District saYing thar Clifton Warer District drinking water.....well. putting it nicely.....ls less than deSirable. I know taste is very subleCtlve, however I would like to see our District address thiS issue further. What can we do to Improve the taste of the DistriCt's water! Security. since our nation's most recent tragic events, I beheve we need to ensure our drinking water is not an easy target for terrorists or pranksters What is the real threat and are we addressing preventive measures for sabotage' Compliance. I believe we need to maintain strict drinking warer compliance with State and Federal drinking warer requirements. I believe I can aSSist the District in making the needed improvements to Stay aheJ.d of demand. improve our drinking water taste. secure our Vital natural resource. and exceed comphance standards. I would like to build upon the District's successes. let the community know what we did, and eliminate the weaknesses. Where do we fall shore. as a DIStrict. is what I Want to change. New Mexico. have lived and worked in the Grand Valley. I graduated (rom Grand JunctJon High School in 1957 and joined the USAF two weeks afterward. Inc.. in Whltewater. After I negotiated the merger of the HWSC with the Clifton Water District in 1986. I was elected to the Board of Directors of the CWO. where I have served for the past 16 years. I have also served as president of the Thunder Mountain Tourers Motorcycle Club. Inc. for seven years I was also the SecretaryfTreasurer then President of the Western Colorado Association of ufe Underwriters in 1974_ I 976. t helped form the Cola West Mill Tailings Coalition. Inc.. and served a vice-president. and then four years as the preSident. I am currently the president of the Clifton Water District. and of the Whltewater Cemetery Association. Inc. I also partiCipated In the Adopt.a-Highway cleanup program for several years. I am on the oversight committee of the Handup Homes for Youth program. I would hke to be re.elected to the Clifton Water District Board of Directors. so I can continue serving the users of Clifton Water. as I have for the past 16 years. During my career on the Board we have built a new Nanoflltration facihty. A new garage/storage/workshop bUilding. a new office building And selected a financial advisor to make sure that the money entrusted to us is put to the best use that safety will J.Uow have seen the District's reserves increase 600% and the total J.ssets more than double. while the water rates have only followed the rate of inf1J.tion. One of the changes that I think needs to uke place. is the eliminatIon of term limits. or at least have the limit raised to three terms. I would also like to see a less pJ.perwork oriented organization. (More people behind the donkeys than on them.)
