A Joint Engineering Work Group developed information on the storage <br />potential and other features of possible reservoirs within the basin. <br /> <br />Potomac River <br /> <br />The Department is cooperating with the Corps of Engineers in a review of its <br />reports on this basin. The Soil Conservation Service has developed informa- <br />tion on storage potentials in small and intermediate size reservoirs for <br />correlation with that on potentials for storage in large reservoirs developed <br />by the Corps. <br /> <br />Lower Mississinni River and Tributaries <br /> <br />The Department cooperated with the Mississippi River Commission in a review <br />of the Corps of Engineers' report. The Department has completed a report on <br />the agricultural potential of selected project areas in the Mississippi allu- <br />vial valley, utilizing data developed in the cooperative investigations; and <br />the Mississippi River Commission completed the review survey report. <br /> <br />Yazoo-MississiDDi River (Miss,) <br /> <br />The Department is cooperating with the Mississippi Board of Water Commis- <br />sioners in a comprehensive survey of land and water resource development on <br />approximately 6 million acres in the Yazoo-Mississippi flood plain and the <br />bluff area in Mississippi. The objective of this survey is to obtain in- <br />formation to be used by the Department in identifying opportunities for <br />P.L. 566 watershed projects. <br /> <br />Tombi~bee River (Ala, and Miss, ) <br /> <br />The Department also is cooperating with the Mississippi Board of Water Com- <br />missioners in a survey and investigation of this basin. Information deve- <br />loped is to be used by the Department to determine, among other things, <br />opportunities for P.L. 566 watershed projects. The information will be used <br />by the Board of Water Commissioners also, <br /> <br />Colorado River Stora~e Proiect <br /> <br />The USDA Field AdvisolY Committee composed of representatives of the Economic <br />Research Service, Forest Service, and Soil Conservation Service and the Land <br />Grant Colleges set up to coordinate the activities of departmental agencies <br />and the colleges continued, in cooperation with the Department of the In- <br />terior, reappraising the direct agricultural benefits to be expected from <br />the participating projects of the Colorado River Storage Project. The pro- <br />ject reports also provide information on the relationship between project <br />facilities and adjacent watershed lands and the impact of the various pro- <br />jects on national forest lands and improvements. <br /> <br />
