<br />Locat1on.--Water-stage recorder, lat 37"41'2211, long 106027'3811, in N~ sec. 29, T. 40 N.,
<br />R. 5 E., on right bank, 20 ft downstream from county highway bridge, 5 miles upstream
<br />from Pinos Creek, and 6 ~les west of Del Norte. Datum of gage 1s 7,980.25 ft above mean
<br />sea level, datum of 1929. Prior to May 16, 1908, staff gage at site 4 miles downstream.
<br />Records are equivalent.

<br />Drainage area.--l,320 sq mi, approximately.
<br />
<br />Average discharge.--82 years (1890-1971),906 ers (656,~oo acre-ft per year).

<br />Extremes.--1889-1971: Maximum discharge, 18,000 ers Oct. 5, 1911 (gage height, 6.80 ft), from
<br />rating curve extended above 6,000 ers; minimum daily, 69 era Aug. 21, 1902.

<br />Remarks.--Records excellent except for some winter months, which are fair. Flow regulated by
<br />four reservoirs, total capacity 126,100 acre-ft, and by several smaller ones. Six
<br />trans mountain diversions import water into basin above station.

<br />NW~NW~ sec. 22, T. 36 N., R. 4 E., on left bank 1,100 ft downstream from valve house for
<br />Platoro Reservoir and 0.7 mile northwest of P1atoro. Datum of gage is 9,866.60 ft above
<br />mean sea level (levels by Bureau of Reclamation).

<br />Drainage area.--40 sq mi, approximately.

<br />Average discharge.--19 years (1953-71), 84.5 cfs (61,220 acre-ft per year).

<br />Extremes.--1952-71: Maximum discharge, 1,160 cfs Nov. 1, 1957; maximum gage height, 4.29 ft
<br />June 15, 1958; no flow Oct. 16-20, 1955.

<br />Remarks.--Recards good except for those for winter months, which are poor. No diversions above
<br />station. Flow completely regulated by P1atoro Reservoir (capacity, 60,000 acre-ft).
