BrO\'In: <br /> <br />ThIs is to acknowledge receIpt of the Narrows Unit Draft Environ- <br />mental Statement prepared by the Bureau of Reclamation, Department of <br />Interior_ As requested, the Draft Environmental Statement has been <br />revie','led by this office and the fo1101',;n9 COi1iments are presented for <br />various, chapters of the Statement: <br /> <br />Chapter II - Description of the Proposal <br /> <br />It is stated on page 11-3 that the project would make available <br />on the average 140,700 acre feet of water annually_ This value is <br />based upon certain,assumptions and estimates ~~ich were presented in <br />previous Bureau of Reclamation documents; therefore, these documents <br />~Iere also utilized by this office in order to conduct a comprehensive <br />reviel'l. The 140,700 acre feet value is the combination of three <br />factors ~Ihich ~Ien" derived from the "Report of the NarrOlvs Unit, <br />Colol'ddo, Appendix II-Hydrology, January 1967". In AppendiX II, a <br />reservoir opel',ltion study l'las conducted for the period of 1947--1961 <br />using historical data and frolll this study the follOl.ling three factors <br />\'Iere determined \'Ihich al-e averages for the study period: <br /> <br />a. Project water releases would be 88,400 acre feet <br />annually. <br /> <br />u. Jilcl-eClsed d'ivertaule return flo\'IS of ~l ,300 acre <br />feet annually would be'available based upon 24% <br />of project woter releases. <br /> <br />C. lJil-C,ct diversions or 31,000 acre feet of the Heldon <br />V"lley Canal ~ould be a~ailable as part of the <br />project water supply. <br />
