Thirty-one items <br />of concern or recommendation were submitted by the participants. Of <br />these thirty-one, the following items received the most attention. <br />These items are listed in decreasing order of priority as deternined <br />by the participants' combined input: <br /> <br />1. <br />others <br />nation <br /> <br />An educational program to inform landowners, outfitters and <br />regarding the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and effects of desig- <br />and classification. <br /> <br />2. Legal protection for the preservation of the recreational, <br />wildlife-fish, archaeologic, historic, geologic and scenic values of <br />the river and its corridor. <br /> <br />3. Need for regulation of recreation Use. <br /> <br />4. Maintain water quality - prevention of future degradation <br />and improvement of water quality. <br /> <br />5. Extend the study to include that portion of the Colorado <br />River from the confluence of the Dolores River to its confluence wi th <br />the Green River (precedent established). <br /> <br />6. No more dams on Colorado River. <br /> <br />7. Press for immediate relinquish.nent of old FPC (Federal Power <br />Commission) and BuRec (Bureau of Recla~ation) withdrawals (back to <br />public ownership). <br /> <br />8, Continuation of commercial trips and private trips. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Note: Items 4, 5 and 6 had equal priority ratings as did items <br />7 and 8. <br /> <br />The majority of comments submitted reflect concerns that overlap <br />or fall within the following general categories: regulations govern- <br />ing river management, river classification recomnlendations, impacts <br />on present and future land use and needs for further studies. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />0630 <br />
