The

recorded average annual water discharges and sectional gains for

stations on the Arkansas River for the period 1945 through 1958

are as follows:

Sectional
gain
(1,000 ac-ft)

The above values are believed to represent flow conditions in the

respective reaches as affected by diversions and depletions for
about 60,000 acres irrigated between the State line and Garden

City.

The average annual flow of the Pawnee River at Larned for

the 1945 through 1958 period amounted to 104,500 acre-feet. For
the 33-year period 1926-1958 the annual flow averaged 65,600 acre-

feet. Complete records of runoff for Walnut Creek at Albert for

,
the same p~riod are not aVailable. From a comparison of the few

records that were available (15 months) it was conservatively

estimated that Walnut Creek discharges would approximate 50 percent

of the Pawnee River at Larned. The Walnut Creek flow therefore was

estimated as 52,000 acre-feet annually for the 1945-1958 period.

Monthly flow hydrographs for the stations listed above are

shown on exhibit 2.

7
