<br />At the Federal level, salinity control requires <br /> <br />l-" <br />~n <br />(.'J <br />,.j::>. <br /> <br />coordination efforts of the Department of the Interior, <br /> <br />including FWS (Fish and Wildlife Service), USGS (U.S. <br /> <br />Geological Survey), BLM (Bureau of Land Management), and <br /> <br />USBR (Bureau of Reclamation); the EPA; and the Department <br /> <br />of Agriculture, including SCS (Soil Conservation Service), <br /> <br />ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service), <br /> <br />ARS (Agricultural Research Service), CSRS (Cooperative <br /> <br />State Research Service), and ES (Extension Service), <br /> <br />The capabilities of the Federal agencies are coordinated <br /> <br />through an Interagency Salinity Control Committee to <br /> <br />improve management of irrigated agriculture through <br /> <br />research and implementation of off- and onfarm improvements <br /> <br />and through implementation of selected structural and <br /> <br />nonstructural control measures, <br /> <br />Coordination between USDA <br /> <br />and Reclamation has been enhanced re ently through the <br /> <br />activities of the USDA/USBR Technic 1 Policy Coordination <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Coordinator <br /> <br />Committee and the staffing of the <br /> <br />for Salinity Control in Reclamat on's Colorado River Water <br /> <br />Quality Office. <br /> <br />7 <br />
