<br />..... <br />e,,') <br />1-,'" <br />~ <br /> <br />Technical assistance for planning, design, and installation <br /> <br />of onfarm irrigation systems and water management is <br /> <br />provided by SCS under their conservation technical <br /> <br />assistance program. <br /> <br />Funding for financial assistance to <br /> <br />provide landowner cost-share support for installation of <br /> <br />irrigation water mansgement system improvements and related <br /> <br />salinity control measures is provided by the Agricultural <br /> <br />Stabilization and Conservation Service through the ACP <br /> <br />(Agricultural Conservation Program), <br /> <br />Educational support <br /> <br />and assistance is provided through funds allocated by the <br /> <br />Extension Service and the State Cooperative Extension <br /> <br />Services of Utah and Colorado, <br /> <br />Educational assistance is <br /> <br />necessary to inform farmers and landowners about the <br /> <br />salinity control projects, new technologies, and how <br /> <br />improved irrigation water management can benefit individual <br /> <br />farmers and downstream Colorado River water users, <br /> <br />Research and Demonstration <br /> <br />The development and testing of new technology, improved <br /> <br />irrigation equipment, and different irrigation techniques <br /> <br />are vitally important research activities presently being <br /> <br />funded by the Agricultural Research Service. <br /> <br />Additional <br /> <br />research support is being provided by the Cooperative State <br /> <br />Research Service through several Western State agricultural <br /> <br />experiment stations, Progress is being made through these <br /> <br />24 <br />
