.

.

19

report.

CHAIRMAN STONE: I understand Utah has also held some hearings on that

MR. VERNON: Mr. Linke can answer that.

CHAIRMAN STONE: Is that.right, Mr. Linke?

MR.. LINKE: Yes. In Utah we have had foultmeetings and weare 'l&oi'lilgto
hold one or m~re additional meetings in regard to the Colorado River Storage Proj-
ect. But the~e is the matter of the requirement on Page 2~, Faragraph 44, that
it contain requests for a participating project, one or more, from each of tbe
states. ~e ~rojectwhich.Utah originally desires, of course, is the Central Utah
Project, the X'eport 'of which' is not quite completed but I take it that it will be
around the 1st of November. However, we have heard enough about that report and
know the conte, nts of it to the extent that we are willing to request it in connec-
tion with the 'Storage Project report. and I think you can consider Utah ready to go
along withCo~orado after the Colorado'meetings are held.

CHAJ;RMAN STONE: Well, that seems to indicate then--

'MR. :ROLLINS:Pardon me.. May I make a statement there clarifying what I
said? I am noit, certain that I had in mind just what You meant 1:ly the Colorado
River Storage Project. I thought you had in mind the confidential report and the
call upon .the ~tates to recommend initial projects,. which we did sometime ago.
Now maybe this'is something different than I thought. .

CHAIRMAN STONE: What I am talking about is that comprehensive plan or
backbone framework of a comprehensive plan submitted by Region 4 under the title,
"Colorado Rivet Storage Project and Participating Projects"; and the comments of
the states involve not just the matter of su1:lmitting a list of participating
projects but their overall comments.

In Colorado the matter has been before the Colorado Water Conservation
Board and the $oard has ordered the holding of these hearings; and we, as I say,
expect to conc~ude them soon--the first week of bctober as a matter of fact. That
means a meeting of the Committee very soon.

Now we have an understanding of that matter, does New Mexico have any-
thing further to offer at this meeting?

MR. WILSON: Nothing at all.

CHAIRMAN STONE: May I ask my advisers. Mr. Delaney, do you have a~-
thing to offer on behalf of Colorado?

MR. DELANEY: No, sir.
CHAIRMAN STONE; Mr. Tipton?
MR. Tl:PTON: No.

CHAIRMAN STONE: Mr, Breitenstein?
