Dallas Creek PrOject, 'tops OLlt" <br /> <br />On the Dolores Project, recreation lacili- <br />ties at McPhee Dam and Reservoir were <br />dedicated May 24, 1986. The ceremony <br />at the McPhee Recreation Complex was <br />sponsored jointly by Reclamation and the <br />U.S. Forest Service. The prrncipal speaker <br />was C. Dale Duvall, Reclamation Com- <br />miSSioner. Olher participants were Upper <br />Colorado Regional Director C1llford <br />Barrett; Ernesl House, Chairman of the <br />Ute Mountain Ute Indian Tribe; Bruce <br />McAlee, President of the Dolores Water <br />Conservancy District; and Don Foth, <br />Rocky Mountain Regional Forester. <br /> <br />The new recreation area waters will be <br />stocked with game fiSh, and will become, <br />with its scenic beauty, one 01 the most <br />attractive recreation spots in the Four <br />Corners Area. <br /> <br />The linal load 01 fill male rial was placed <br />on Ridgway Dam embankment July 23. <br />1986. locafed about 6 miles north 01 <br />Ridgway, Colorado, on Ihe Uncompahgre <br />River, the dam contains approximately 10 <br />million cubic yards 01 zoned earth fill , rises <br />227 leel above the streambed and has a <br />crest length of 2.430 leet. An <br />electrical lault in an overhead crane <br />caused a lire in a station service board <br />that was providing local power to the <br />plant. Power production was diverted to <br />other unils of the Colorado River Storage <br />Project. One 01 the two generators was <br />back in service within a week. <br />
