Thus far, however, <br /> <br /> <br />none of the proposed research programs have reached the expanded <br /> <br /> <br />scale of activities recommended. <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />An evaluation of how weather modification would be used to augment <br />water supplies centers around such questions as: <br /> <br />How much new usable water can be expected? <br /> <br /> <br />Where and how will it be produced? <br /> <br /> <br />What are the estimated costs? <br /> <br /> <br />What benefits could be derived? <br /> <br /> <br />What research and engineering effort is required to obtain a <br /> <br /> <br />reliable capability to produce the new water? <br /> <br />Preliminary estimates answering these questions are developed in the <br />following sections. <br /> <br />General <br /> <br /> <br />This paper considers only what can be done by the mid-1970's.
