Las Vegas Wash

A FONSI dated May 13, 1983, was prepared for the Pittman
Verification Program. The Pittman Bypass Pipeline is scheduled for
construction in 1984.

A Draft Environmental Assessment is scheduled for completion by

May 1984 to report on the following studies:

1. Vegetation vs Salinity
2. Advanced Waste Water Study (Nutrients/Toxins)
3. Wildlife Habitat Evaluation

We are presently collecting design data for a slurry wall system

that would reduce the flow of saline ground water into the Wash.

We are looking at the possibility of using brackish ground water

to irrigate recreation fields near the Wash. This would help consume and

benefically use the water which would otherwise leach additional salt as it

passed through the Wash to the Colorado River.
