Results from increasing the habitat value at site 6
by simulating vegetation clearing and island leveling will be
used to predict habitat at other river reaches under these same
land management techniques. Results of this effort have been
documented by the Work Group.

Task 3 - Define Present Condition Habitat
Prior to FY 1991, the BWG made much progress toward defining
present condition habitat. This task item will be readdressed in
FY 1992 by the Work Group for finalization and inclusion in the
internal working document.

Task 4 - Develop Land Manaqement Methods
The BWG also contributed to the development of eight land
management alternatives. Prior to FY 1991, the BWG recommended
three habitat plans, based solely on these land management
alternatives, that could provide habitat for recovered
populations of threatened and endangered species in the central
Platte River. The Work Group has scheduled the completion and
inclusion of Task 4 into the working document in FY 1992.

Task 5 - Develop Water Manaqement Methods

The Work Group also began formUlating water management methods.

The Work Group sorted the 17 previously identified water

management methods into eight potential types of water

management. With much discussion, the Work Group developed

7
