ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

The Division of Water Resources has had the active cooperation
of state institutions and departments having to do with water prob-
lems. The heads or representatives of such departments are serving
as an Advisory Committee whose counsel is sought on many phases.
Grateful acknowledgment, herewith made, is wholly inadequate
either as recognition or as a measure of the extremely valuable pub-
lic service which they are rendering. A contact with the federal in-
terests concerned with the various aspects of the work is maintained
through W. W. Horner, consultant to the National Resources Plan-
ning Board on water problems within the entire region composing
the Arkansas river basin of which the Neosho watershed is a part.
The time and effort he is devoting to our problems are greatly ap-
preciated. The cooperation of many individuals throughout the
state has been particularly helpful. Special acknowledgment is
made to the Engineering Division of Kansas State College at Man-
hattan for undertaking the construction of a model of a portion of
the Cottonwood river by means of which the relative effects of pro-
posed channel improvements are to be studied; to the State Geolog-
ical Survey for the geologic investigation of the Strawn dam site;
llnd to the State Highway Department for its cooperation on core
drilling operations.
