<br />3 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The quantities of waters delivered to Mexico on the land boundary at <br />San Luis and in the limitro~he section of the river below Morelos Dam, <br />excluding the Wellton-Mohawk drainage waters under Minute No. 242, since <br />it became effective on June 24, 1974, are tabulated as follows; <br /> <br /> Year Acre-feet Cubic Meters <br />. 1974 (June 25 to Dec. 31) 57,055 70,377,000 <br /> 1975 107,916 133,113,000 <br /> 1976 108,090 133,328,000 <br /> 1977 93,259 115,034,000 <br /> 1978 80,592 99,409,000 <br /> <br />The decrease in deliveries on the land boundary and in the limitrophe section <br />below Morelos Dam in calendar year 1978 from the annual volume of 140,000 <br />acre~feet (172,689,000 cubic meters) referred to in the Minute, was made up <br />by waters delivered to Mexico in the bed of the river above Morelos Dam as <br />is required by Point 1 of the Minute. The quantities of water delivered <br />.across the land boundary at San Luis and in the limitrophe section below <br />Morelos Dam were less than the annual volume of 140,000 acre-feet <br />(172,689,000 cubic meters) referred to in Minute No. 242, because of the <br />effects of pumping of groundwaters by the Yuma Mesa wells and by Mexican <br />wells near San Luis. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Average salinities of the waters delivered to '1exico on the land boundary <br />at San Luis under ~inute ~o. 242, since it became effective on June 24, <br />1974, are tabulated as follows: <br /> <br />Total Dissolved Solids <br />(U.S. Count) <br /> <br />Year <br /> <br />1974 (June 25 to Dec. 31) <br />1975 <br />1976 <br />1977 <br />1978 <br /> <br />1515 ppm <br />1500 ppm <br />1480 ppm <br />1510 npm <br />1470 porn <br /> <br />The salinities were in the same range as those of the waters customarily <br />delivered on the land boundary, which averaged about 1540 ppm for the <br />10-year period 1963-1972. <br /> <br />Pro~ress on United States Measures Provided for in P.L. 93-320 <br /> <br />The progress made on the permanent measures to be taken and the works to be <br />constructed, operated, and maintained in the United States by the Secretary <br />of the Interior, pursuant to Puhlic Law 93-320, Title 1, to enable the United <br />States to comply with the provisions of Minute No. 242, is described in the <br />Bureau of Reclamation's Status ~eport as of February 1, 1979 copy attached <br />as Exhibit 3. This report shows that the desalting plant is scheduled to be <br />in operation by June 1984. <br /> <br />. <br />
