The Council

further recommends th~t the Survey, in consultation with

the Forum Work Group, undertake a complete review of the

data collection and evaluation program for the Colorado

River.

The oooperative'efforts between USGS, Reclamation, and

Agriculture in improving the database for both .water and

salt load should be continued. It would be helpful if the

USGS could develop better methods to evaluate the data,. base

as well as salinity impacts.

Department of Agriculture (USDA)

The Council commends the efforts of the Basin states

in obtaining line item funding for the Salini ty Control

Program in F. Y. 1987. We urge USDA to diligently pursue

adequate line item funding for personnel, equipment and

cost sharing to assure that program implementation

schedules are met. The Council strongly recommends the

continued use of carryover Agricultural Conservation

Program (ACP) salinity control funds, as specifically

appropriated by Congress, to provide additional capability

during the transition from ACP to Colorado River Salinity

Control (CRSC).

-13-
