)

'"'
J
:<'-'

co
L'"
an

A study of the impact of the Yampa Proj~ct on

population growth and the demand for services in

Moffat County and the town of Craig has been made

by the Business Research Division of the Graduate

School of Gusiness Administration of the Univer-

sity of Colorado. The final report is included as

an attachment to this environmental statement. ^

model was used to predict Dopulation growth on

the basis of job opportunities ~enerated directly

or indirectly by the Yampa Project. The model

assumes that basic industry in the area (other

than the Yampa Project) is exponentially re-

lated to a national growth rate, that employ-

ment ,in household service industries is linearly

dependent on the area's total population, and
that employment in business service industries

is linearly related to employment in both basic

and household service industrie's. The mOdel pre-

dicts population growth by births and immigration

in response to employment opportunities in monthly

increments. At the end of each month, immigration

is calculated as the difference between employ-

ment opportunities and available labor force,

reflecting the assumption that employment neither

lags nor exceeds job growth.

-177-
