00
~
L'?

The original vegetation along the proposed

transmission routes has already been si~ni-

ficantly altered by cultivation and

excessive ~razing. No cutting or clearing

of trees is anticipated in the Yampa

Valley area. The Wolcott toMt. Elbert

line will pass through lodgepole pine

areas near the southern end where some

felling of timber will be required.

Potentially marketable timber that must

be removed will be cut in such a manner

as to be commercially usable and will be

stacked and made available to the land-

owner. Non":marketable timber and brush

will also be stacked on the edge of

the right-of-way. Clearing will largely

be limited to the areas around the

towers themselves. All vegetation which

will not interfere with the construction

or operation of the lines will be left

intact. Particular care will be taken to

protect fruit- and browse-producing

shrubs. All disturbed areas will be

graded before the contractor leates th~

area and will be vegetated in time for

the next ~rowing season.
