During construc-

tion a small increase in sediment loading

may occur in nearby streams. To minimize

sedimentation, stream crossings will

be avoided whenever possible. Where

the routes cross major streams, struc-

tures will be position~d as far from

the streambanks as possible. Within

100 feet of a streambed, all clearing

will be done manually.

Oil and fuel storage for construction

equipment will not be permitted near

waterways nor shall oil or fuel waste be

disposed of in a manner that may allow

drainage into a wat~rway. Equipment will

be permitted to cross streams only

where absolutely necessary and soil

conditions are such as to prevent

excessive turbidity.

After construction and revegetation

have been completed, no adverse effect

to surface or groundwater, either

qualitatively or quantitatively, is

expected.

-154-
