1661

.

Table 10 and exhibit 18 show the
Reservoir during water year 1986.

C. West Slope Colleetion System

In water year 1986, the West Slope Collection System wi 11 be in
operation only to divert approximately 6,000 acre-feet of water from the
Fryingpan River Basin and about 3,000 acre-feet from the Hunter System.
The exchange of up to 3,000 acre-feet of water into the Roaring Fork
River with the Company's system will be made again this year. Under the
terms of the exchange the water is to be furn i shed to the Company at
Twin Lakes. This exchange will be done through and by means of Project
diversions and storage in exchange for the Company making equivalent
releases from the headwaters of the Roaring Fork River. The Company's
releases would otherwise be diverted through their collection and diver-
sion system. The exchange wi 11 be operated aceording to the agreement
with the Company (appendix B).

anticipated operation of Ruedi

D. Turquoise Lake

Inflow to Turquoise Lake for water year 1986 will be from four
sources: Busk-Ivanhoe imports, Fryingpan-Arkansas Project imports,
Homestake Project imports, and native flow of Lake Fork. Estimates of
inflow from Busk-Ivanhoe and native Lake Fork were made using historical
records and probability analysis. Projeet water imports are estimated
to be 9,000 acre-feet. Homestake wi 11 import sufficient water to fi 11
their 30,000 acre-feet of storage space.

The planned operation of Turquoise Lake for water year 1986 will be to
maintain the reservoir at or near capacity by the storage of Project
imports, Busk -Ivanhoe imports, and Homestake Proj ect imports.

The Board of Water Works of Pueblo and High Line Canal Company each own
one-half of the Busk-Ivanhoe imports. The High Line Canal Company water
will be stored in Turquoise Lake under ,contract unless or until their
space is no longer available due to Project storage demand. The Pueblo
water wi 11 either be bypassed through Turquoise Lake for storage in
Clear Creek Reservoir or for direct flow usage at Pueblo or be stored
in their long-term storage space in Turquoise Lake.

.

The city of Colorado Springs can store all' of the native inflow to
Turquoise Lake when they are in priority (maximum of 17,416 aere-feet).

Water released from Turquoise Lake, in excess of either instream minimum
flow or flow to meet downstream senior dghts along Lake Fork and on the
Arkansas River above its confluence with Lake Creek, will be diverted
into the Mt. Elbert Conduit. The water will flow through Mt. Elbert
Powerplant and then be released to the Arkansas River from Twin Lakes
vi a Lake Creek.

.

18
