<br />N <br />~ <br />o <br />N <br /> <br /> <br />34 Chapta' 4-Presant and Future Deva/opmant <br /> <br />Colorado River Indian Reservation <br /> <br />The Colorado River Indian Reservation is <br />located along the Colorado River, just below <br />Parker Dam, with most of the land in Arizona <br />and the remainder in California, The Supreme <br />Court Decree allocated 717,148 acre-feet of <br />diversions to the Colorado River Indian <br />Reservation for irrigation of 107,588 acres of <br />land, There are 8,213 acres ofland in California <br />that are partially developed and consume about <br />3,000 acre-feet, <br /> <br />Palo Verde Irrigation District <br /> <br />The Palo Verde Irrigation District (PVID) has <br />the first priority in California for Colorado River <br />water under the Seven Party Agreement to <br />irrigate a total of 104,500 acres, In 1991, an <br />estimated 413,000 acre-feet were consumptively <br />used, <br /> <br />Yuma Project, Reservation Division <br /> <br />California lands within the Yuma Project have <br />the second priority under the Seven Party <br />Agreement, In the Indian Unit, Arizona v, <br />California reserves water for 7,743 acres ofland, <br />The Bard Unit has about 6,294 acres ofland, <br />The estimated consumptive use of the two units <br />in 1991 was 51,000 acre-feet, <br /> <br />Imperial Irrigation District <br /> <br />The Imperial Irrigation District and the <br />Coachella Valley Water District have rights to <br />the remaining water within the first three <br />priorities under the Seven Party Agreement, <br />The total apportioned to these priorities is <br />3,850,000 acre-feet per year, Under the <br />Imperial Irrigation DistrictJMetropolitan Water <br /> <br />District Conservation Agreement, the first three <br />priorities will be limited to 3,740,000 acre-feet <br />by 1995 with the 106,000 acre-feet made <br />available to the Metropolitan Water District, In <br />1991, the Imperial Irrigation District <br />consumptively used about 2,899,000 acre-feet, <br /> <br />Coachella Valley Water District <br /> <br />In 1991 the District consumptively used about <br />318,000 acre-feet, <br /> <br />OTHER USES <br /> <br />The Virgin River is a tributary to the Lower <br />Colorado River, It passes through portions of <br />Arizona, Nevada, and Utah prior to entering the <br />Colorado River at Lake Mead, The water <br />resources currently serve water users in all <br />three States, <br /> <br />Virgin River, Utah <br /> <br />Current and projected water depletions for the <br />Virgin River Basin in Utah are shown under <br />"Other Uses" at the end of table 3, Values were <br />estimated by the State of Utah in their state <br />water plan for the Kanab CreekNirgin River <br />basins, Irrigation uses are expected to gradually <br />reduce as existing agricultural land is converted <br />to new residential development, The converted <br />irrigation water is accounted for as part of <br />future M&I water supply in both public systems <br />and secondary systems, The increase in exports <br />includes the potential delivery of 6,500 acre-feet <br />of water to Cedar City, The Shivwit Indian <br />Band is currently depleting 200 acre-feet of <br />water, Future use depends upon ruling on <br />reserve water rights, <br />
