0025115

COAL-DEVELOPMENT IMPACTS

The various assumed alternatives of coal-resource development for the
Yampa River basin in 1990 are summarized in table 1. The first primary-
level options (I, I I, and I I I) shown in the table are based on util ization
for electric-power generation of the 1990 coal-mining production of 18
mill ion tonnes per year adjusted from projections by the NorthwestColo-
rado Coa 1 E' S. The bas i s for each opt ion is noted at the bottom of the
table.

Table 1,.--AZternatives for ooal-resoza>a8 development--1990.
Yampa River basin

Allocation of 1990-projected coal-mining production,
in mill ions of tonnes per year
Opt i on Steam-turb ine Coal Transport Local
code1 power generation2 gasification3 out of basin market ing
I.A. 3.99 11.34 2.36 0.45
I .B. 3.99 5.67 8.03 .45
I.C. 3.99 0 "13.70 .45
II.A. 7.98 5.67 4.04 0.45
II.B. 7.98 0 "9.71 .45
III.
