ANNUAL REPORT FOR 196ij

Pursuant to a resolution passed at the Stockholder's meeting
in March, a new waste gate and structure was installed at the May
Valley Waste Way. The structure required 45 cubic yards 01
concrete and 5,000 linear leet 01 five-eighths inch rebar. A 7 It. X
12 ft. radial gate was installed. The cost was reduced by virtue 01
uSing an old gate which was on hand. The gate was rebuilt and
covered with one-fourth inch boiler plate.

A concrete cap was run on the check near mllepolnt 19.
This converted the weir crest to the ogee. type and has caused
more effiCIent operation.

A 2 room addition was made to the ditch house at Bulialo
Creek Crossing. This house was small and in poor condition, but
with the add1lion will continue to be serviceable.

Several more Pend-vane liners were installed In laterals
. this year. With these .installed, 95 percent 01 water delivered is
now run through permanent measuring devices. The remaining 5
percent is run through laterals in such posltlon that itls virtually
impossible to Install permanent weirs. It is the practice now to rate
these laterals several times each year wJth a current meter.

All the new mls in the breaks on the Amity required new
rip-rap. In addition, much of the old rip-rap was damaged by the
May flood. This was repaired during the year.

Many trees and much brush were cut in Lamar Division
between Hiway 50 bridge and Hiway 196 bridge. This portion 01
canal was straightened and re-aligned. The south bank was bullt
up in some areas. The canal was wJdened through the Country
Club golf course.

A new concrete and cinder block lire wall was constructed
on theolhce building, in accordance wJth the Town 01 Holly's
building code.

Several new headgates were installed along the canal In
the spring.

Your ditchriders and headgate man have assisted In all the
above proiects. in addition to the tasks normally required 01' them.
It can be seen that they have been iairly busy throughout the year

The tree removal and canal re-alignment In Lamar Division
must be continued. Short lengths 01 canal In Holly Division should
be widened. However, as a result 01 the continued malnt~onanC9
and repair operations the Amity Canal is In better condltlon than
it has been for several years.

.Pa'e 18-
