<br />At June 30, 1959, construction of the 700-foot-high concrete arch
<br />dam and the 900,000-kilowatt powerplant was generally 'In schedule

<br />The CQIQradQ River Bridge, spanning the canYQn 'If the CQIQrado
<br />River and cQnnecting th~ new highways, was cQmpleted and dedicated
<br />in February 1959, The steel arch bridge is the highest (700 feet
<br />abQve the river) and s~cQnd lQngest (1,271 feet) 'If its type in the
<br />United States.
<br />AIl wQrk was cQmpleted on the 200 GQvernment residences CQn-
<br />structed in Page, Ariz., the Glen CanYQn cQmmunity, and they were
<br />accepted from the cQntractQr in April 1959. The administratiQn
<br />building and the buildillg hQusing the fire and PQlice facilities were
<br />substantially cQmpleted fat June 30, 1959, Streets and utilities fQr
<br />the tQwn of Page were iri, and Qperating at that date. A mQdern, well
<br />equipped 25-bed hQspital was dedicated and placed in QperatiQn,

<br />Work on the $29.6 million prime contract for construction of the
<br />495-foot-high dam and ;108,000-kilQwatt PQwerplant on, the Green.
<br />River in Utah at June 30, 1959, was running behind schedule. Work
<br />completed at June 30, IP59, aggregated 10 percent as oPPQsed to 20
<br />percent of the overall time allowed by the CQntract. DiversiQn 'If th'e
<br />Green River was expecteU to start during the fall of 1959. ' "
<br />The construction of th~ residences, streets, utilities, and Qther facil-
<br />ities of the Flaming GQrde Community (Dutch JQhn, Utah) was CQm-
