As I have previously advised, the Geological <br />Survey's CODcern in reports of this kind is tollllke sure that the <br />planning age'n.cy 11assecured end had &11 opportUl:lityto use all 01' <br />the Geologica;L Survey basic data ontOJlographic mapping, water <br />resources, minerals &I1d geology that might be usetul in planning <br />the pr,oJec1i. ~he Geological Surveyw1sheil to be informed alSo as <br />to what bas1cdata might be needed .to perfect thedevelopJDent <br />in Qrder to plan its :future programs to fit project requirements. <br />It 1spreferable, of course, that the planning reports include <br />specific reference to the need for such data, ,thus strengthening <br />Geological survey requests for appropriations to fiIl&l1ce the <br />collection of'such dat~. <br /> <br />I have asked those of the Survey who are bestqual1j'ied from <br />the standpoint'ot their specialized professional fields end <br />personalkDow1edge of the region to review this report. The <br />Geologic Division is working Jointly with the Bure,au ot Mines in <br />preparing comments on minerals end fuels resources that might be <br />af'fected by the project. These combined comments "ill be mailed <br />direct to YQU by those making this phase of the review. Mr. <br />S. W. Lohman, by letter to you dated December 30, 1952, commented <br />on your report regarding problems that :would be of concern <br />to the Ground Water Branch.
