Suaaer home sites
are included ~n future plans. Use of North Lake is
restricted to bank fishing.

San Isabel National ForestHes justbflyond.
Its attractions include East and West Spanish Peaks
(elevation 12,708 andl3,623,feet, sea level reference)
and other high mountain sce~ery of the first order;
Bear and Blue Lakes; Cucharas Camps (about 71 miles
distant by, road ,from Trinidad); scenic drives through
the Stonewall - Cucharas Pass country.

All of this is vacation country which attracts
tourists from near and far. The day use given these
teatures by the people of Trinidad and the section to
the east is limited by distance and is largely there-
suIt of inadequate facilities closer at hand. The ability of
Trinidad Reservoir to supply satisfactory fishing will
be reported by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
unquestionably during those recreation seasons in which
the reservoir goes dry all recreational use will grind
to a halt. The possibility that such will occur during
each forthcoming season will be a millstone hanging
over the head of all recreational operational planning,
drastically retarding the effectiveness of the reser-
voir for that type of .use.

A further need is for a water-recreational
area worthy of attracting tourists, even if briefly,
whose visitation would add to the prosperity of the
area. This feature would not compete with the scenic

APPENDIX G
Exhibit No. 1

.
