This would result in
a fer~lcal drop of 41.5 feet from the full poo.l level
a.. a reductlon In surface area to 975 acres. This would have elimi-
aated tbe recreational value of the reservoir about one
year i8 four. '

, IDclusion of municipal water storage, or other
modifications of the tentative operation plans, eould
materially alter the data gben.

Physical.characteristics

~xcept in the upper reaches of the main valley
and side canyons, the reservoir would have co.paratively
slight horizontal fluctuation of shoreline, due to the
topography of the site, a fairly broad, flat valley
floor with moderately steep sides. This would lessen
the flood plain and increase the aesthetic value. The,
surrounding country, rising fairly abruptly from the
shoreline (espeCially at promontories extending out
into the reservoir area) tends to level off and become
flat or gently rolling, typical of regions of siailar
geological structu~e, consi$ting of sandstone beds,
interspersed with shale and coal beds and occasional
intrusions of basalt.

The vicinity of the reservoir is fairly at-
tractive due to the physical characteristics of the~
area coupled with plant growth consisting of open pin-
yon-juniper forest type whtch extends downward to the
proposed water level. This open pinyon-juniper growth
has an understory of short-grass, typical of the high
plains extending to the east. ' The area might be con-
sidered a transition zone for these two cover types.
It would be espeCially scenic'to people coming froa the
great Plains area to the east.
