A Final Environmental
Impact Statement (EIS) for the Grand Valley Unit of the CRSCP was published in 1986. This
assessment was conducted in consultation with local, State, and Federal agencies as well as with
interested organizations and individuals, and is a supplement to the 1986 EIS. Data developed
during, the assessment'are available for public review at the following location:

USDA Soil Conservation Service
655 Parlet Street Room E200C
Lakewood, CO 80215

Recommended Action

Proposed is the installation of 21,530 feet of underground irrigation pipeline to eliminate ditch
seepage and to reduce.salt loading to the Colorado River by 2465 tons each year.

Effect of Recommended Action

The recommended action will reduce salt loading to the Colorado River and will reduce
maintenance costs on the lateral by $21,530 each year.

The proposed action will result in loss of 9.5 acres of upland wildlife habitat. Mitigation installed
concurrently with pipeline installation will fully compensate lost habitat.

The USDA followed consultation procedures with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service
(USFWS) according to Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. USFWS concurred with the
USDA concusion that critical habitats of threatened and endangered species will not be affected by
the project.

No wetlands will be affected by the project.

No cultural and/or historical resources are known at this time to be on the lateral right-of-way. In
the event additional cultural resources sites are identified that may be altered or damaged by project
actions, work will stop until the applicable provisions of Public Law 89-665, Public Law 91-190,
and Public Law 93-291 have been complied with.

No changes are expected in air quality.

No significant adverse environmental impacts will result from project installation.

page 10f2
