The Transmission Division includes transmission lines, substations,
switchyards (exclusive of switchyards at storage unit powerplants),
and other associated facilities. It's purpose is to provide for the
interconnection of storage project powerplants with each other, with
participating project power facilities, with other Federal powerplants,
and with the electrical facilities of the major investor-owned power
companies in the Colorado River Basin area. The desired result is to
deliver the greatest practicable amount of firm power and energy that
can be produced to the load centers for sale. Completed features are
to be operated by the Government.

.

Construction of the Poncha-Midway section of the eurecanti-Midway 230
kv Transmission Line and the storage warehouse building at Archer Sub-
station was completed during FY 1968. Contracts were also awarded for
switches, load and frequency control equipment, automatic fault record-
ing system, station service transformers, and construction of the Mid-
way Substation. Construction continued on Stage 01 of the Rifle Sub-
station.
