Anders, Jr. was named Deputy Regional Director of the National <br />Marine Fisheries Service, Southwest Region, headquartered in Terminal <br />Island, California. <br /> <br />Dr. Richard L. Lehman has been appointed to the staff of NOAA's Office <br />of Ecology and Environmental Conservation. <br /> <br />Robert W. Schoning has been named Deputy Director of the National Marine <br />Fisheries Service. He will work with NMFS Director Philip M.' Roedel <br />on all aspects of fisheries research and development on both national and <br />international levels. <br /> <br />(Plans are now firm to telemeter two river gaging stations in the' COloradO) <br />River. Basins. Telemetry will be. accomPlis.hed via .the Geostat. ionary Opera-. , <br />tional Environmental Satellite. The two stations are both in the State of <br />Colorado and are Cameo and Kremmling on the Colorado River. ' . <br /> <br />A Department of Commerce, NOAA, Disaster, Survey Report 70-2, entitled <br />"Arizona Floods of September 5 and 6,1970" has been released and is <br />of interest to participants in the PSIAC. A limited number of this report <br />will be distributed at the 71-4 meeting. <br /> <br />NOAA participated in several environmental impact statements. <br /> <br />Mr. Richard Tarble, National Weather Service, has accepted a position with <br />the World Metoeorlogical Organizat1on and will be leaving in the near <br />future for a tour of duty in Malaysia. Mr. Tarble has represented the DOC <br />in the California Region "s Framework Study and Flood Control committees <br />since August 1969. . <br /> <br />A July 1971 draft of the Storage Precipitation Gage Manual has just been <br />received.
