In
terms .of livestock needs, 1 young cottonwood tree or saltcedar plant consumes
a little more _ water than does a cow, a horse, or mule, nearly as much as a:
milk cow, and about as much as 3 hogs, 4 sheep, or 4 goats.

\..

~6.8
""
~
'"
=>
'" 15 16
~ 7"1/'
I ~

17

March 19""
18 19

20

21'

22

,'X}:'..>,,,;.. .,c..,,;;,''''::
';'i/;,;;";:::; ;.' ..., ',;i;
.,....:;:,,,
,':';:'-' ~i:
b;..::fi;';;l~'(j:;;;; ,',
'C>'"..""'. .0',:' c/.,<
,,;
,,;:/ ,.' ~}3:;i;;'; \ ",.
;,>; ":i;.-,.: <"
: :i

;'~::

WELL T-G

;:
:}7.2
UJ
'"

/\
\;

f'\ I~
V

-
7

~.' It may he compared to that in a well field having many pumps operat-
ing simultaneously hut at a rate that varies continuously throughout the day
and growing season. In an area of phreatophyte growth, the daily variation
in transpiration rate produces a diurnal fluctuation of the water table. The

j:~..:_"L
