· fIDOOBa~l1.

Facil iti es will be developed to enhance; fi sh and wi 1 dli fe potenti al at
Jackson Lake Reservoir and below Narrows Dam. A fish hatchery at
Narrows Reservoir has also been proposed to enhance the reservoir
fi shery.

Fish and wildlife evaluations provide fpr mitigation of losses associ-
ated with construction of the unit. It has been determined that approx-
imately 27,820 acres of lands would be 'provided for fish and wildlife
management and that wou1 d mi tigate 70, percent of the losses. There
would be 7,170 acres purchased specifically for this purpose and about,
20,650 acres of other lands acquired for: project purposes would also be
made available for wildlife management p~rposes.

If flood control is eliminated from the plan, it is estimated that there
wou1 d be a reduction of 14,000 acres acquired for project purposes.
This would result in a reduction of the amount of land available for
mitigation purposes by at least 50 percent. Therefore, the unmitigated
losses wou1 d be substanti ally increased' under the p1 an without flood
control.

Total expenditures for mitigation are a~ticiPated to be $10.1 million
with an addi ti ona1 $2.6 mi 11 i on to be speht for enhancement.

Costs for recreation facilities are estimated to be $9 million.

A reevalution by Federal, State, and 10~a1 interests could modify the
extent of the mitigation requirements and!enhancement values.

6
