<br />o <br /><=> <br />...... <br />00 <br /> <br />WATERSHED DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> <br />LOCA nON <br /> <br />The Greater Sagers Wash Watershed is an area of about 240 square miles located between the <br />towns of Thompson and Cisco in Grand County, Utah. The watershed has its headwaters in the <br />Book Cliffs, runs in a northwest to southeast direction, and empties into the Colorado River at <br />McGraw Bottom, approximately two miles upstream of the confluence of the Dolores and <br />Colorado Rivers. The watershed is bisected by Interstate 70 which joins the towns of <br />Thompson, on the western border of the watershed, and Cisco, on the eastern border of the <br />watershed, (See Figure 1.0) <br /> <br />CLIMATE <br /> <br />Average annual precipitation for the Sagers Wash Watershed ranges from 16 to 24 inches at the <br />head of the watershed in the Book Cliffs and 5 to 8 inches in the Cisco Desert (See Map A-I). <br />Average precipitation in the Cisco Desert, May tbm September, is 3 to 5 inches, <br /> <br />The Sagers Wash Watershed is characterized by an increase in short-duration, high-intensity <br />convective thunderstonns during August, September, and October. On average, August is the <br />wettest month of the year, and June is the driest. Mean maximum temperatures range from 90 <br />to 99 degrees Fahrenheit; mean minimum temperatures range from 9 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. <br />The average freeze-free season in the Cisco Desert is 100 to 160 days, and the annual pan <br />evaporation rate is 7I inches. <br /> <br />6 <br />
