o
0.
.....
m

PURPOSE

The Greater Sagers Wash Watershed Management Plan has a dual purpose.

The Greater Sagers Wash Watershed Management Plan will serve as a prototype document
which when completed will be used throughout the BLM as a model for other Watershed
Management Plans.

Secondly, the purpose of the Greater Sagers Wash Watershed Management Plan is to:

(I) determine areas with the highest potential for response to land treatments and/or resource
management changes, (2) determine areas within the Greater Sagers Wash Watershed with the
highest potential for accelerated erosion, sedimentation and salt production, (3) develop
alternatives for reducing sediment and salt production from these areas, and (4) determine which
of the alternatives, if any, are economically feasible.

Any alternatives that are found to be economically feasible will be addressed as to: (a) project
planning and design, (b) project implementation, (c) project maintenance, (d) project monitoring,
and (e) project evaluation.

4
