DRAFT

SECTION 4 - WATER SUPPLY

The preliminary design in the FishPro report includes an itemized listing of water flow
requirements for each component of the facility for Phase I and Phase II. The total
estimated flow required for the Phase I facility is 934 gallons per minute (GPM) and for
Phase II it is 2,417 GPM. At a constant rate of flow, this equates to 1,506 acre-feet per
year for Phase I and 3,900 acre-feet for Phase II.

It has not yet been determined whether the operation of the facility will involve a one-
time pass through of water or whether all or some of the effluent will be recycled.
Recycling or reuse would probably involve some additional costs for treatment in
addition to the types of treatment needed for water initially introduced into the facility.

Existinl! Wells

It is proposed that water will be supplied to the facility from three existing wells on the
property. The wells have been installed at differing depths and their yields, water
temperatures, and water chemistry vary. All three are located in SW '4 SW v.. Section I,
T. 37 N., R. 10 E. The locations of the wells relative to the proposed facilities are shown
on the Site Plan in Figure 3-2.

. Well No. I. Registration No. 2292-F, is permitted and adjudicated for 1,800 GPM
with a volumetric limit of 960 acre-feet per year including 100 acre-feet for
evaporation. The well was completed to a depth of 2,526 feet in the confined aquifer.
It was permitted for irrigation and adjudicated for irrigation and commercial uses with
a priority date of December 5, 1959.

. Well No.2. Registration No. 14051, is permitted and adjudicated for 1,000 GPM with
a volumetric limit of 530 acre-feet per year including 100 acre-feet for evaporation.
The well was completed to a depth of 1,500 feet in the confined aquifer. It was
permitted for irrigation and adjudicated for irrigation and commercial uses with a
priority date of December 31, 1952.

. Well No.3. Registration No. 14052, is permitted and adjudicated for 500 GPM. No
volumetric limit was specified in the adjudication. The well was completed to a depth
of 900 feet in the confined aquifer. It was permitted and adjudicated for irrigation use
with a priority date of December 31, 1952.

All of the wells have been used for irrigation and Nos. I and 2 have also been used for
tilapia production. All three wells were adjudicated in Division 3 Water Court on
December 2, 1976 in Case No. W-1456. The well permits should be amended to include
commercial uses for all three wells if all of them will actually be used for the NASF. The
adjudication for Well No.3 should also be amended for commercial use of the water. The
total supply of water legally and physically available from all three wells would appear to

4-1
