Bene- <br /> <br />fits to recreation and flood control also would be realized. Some losses , <br /> <br />to wildlife would realized but most of the losses would be mitigated. <br /> <br />Development of hydroelectric power was t,ound to be unjustified. <br />I <br />" <br /> <br />Irrigation serv~~~ would 'be provided for 28,625 acres in the <br /> <br />northern part of the project area, including 14,908 acres not presently <br /> <br />irrigated and 13,717 acres, in need of additional water. Municipal and <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />, <br /> <br />industrial water would be provided for the southern part, of the area, <br /> <br />including Montrose, Olathe, Delta, and surrounding rural areas. <br /> <br />Project Plan <br /> <br />Three reservoirs ~ld be constructed in the upper reaches of the <br /> <br />project area to store project water. In order of their size, these wOuld <br /> <br />include the Ridgway Reservoir with a capacity of 146,500 acre-feet on <br /> <br />the Uncompahgre River and Dallas Cceek, the Dallas Divide Reservoir with <br /> <br />a capacity of 17,600 acre-feet on Pleasant Valley Creek, and the Sneva <br /> <br />Reservoir with a capacity of 825 acre-feet at a site offstream from Cow <br /> <br />Creek. Each reservoir would be supplied at least part of its water supply <br />by a feeder canal from nearby streams and each would be ,provided with one <br />or more distribution canals.
