"I,." <br />DESIGNS AND uTDlAns <br /> <br />Pr01ect Features <br /> <br />Rid~ay Reservoir <br /> <br />Ridgway Reservoir to be located on tbe Uncompabgre River and Dallas <br /> <br />Creek, would bave a total capacity of 146,500 acre-feet. This would <br /> <br />include about 110,750 acre-feet of active capacity, 5,860 acre-feet of <br /> <br />inactive capacity, and 29,890 acre-feet of dead storage. A surcbarge" <br /> <br />!Itorage capacity of 16,500 acre-feet also would be provided above the <br /> <br />normal water surface elevation 7,076.5 feet. Sediment is expected to <br /> <br />occupy 3,800 acre-feet of the dead storage space oer a 100-year petiod. <br /> <br />The reservoir would have a surface area of 2,913 acru .~ normal ~ter <br /> <br />surface-elevation. <br /> <br />Tbe reservoir would inundate the town of Ridgway and approximately <br /> <br />3.8 miles of U.S. Highway 550 and 3.6 miles of State Highway 62. Resi- <br /> <br />dents of Ridgway would be fully compensated for their 1088es. The sec- <br /> <br />tions of highway that would be inundated would be relocated approximate- <br /> <br />ly paralle~ to their existing alignments. <br /> <br />Ilidgway Reservoir would be formed by a dam on the Uncompahgre River <br /> <br />and a dike on Dallae Creek, eacb about 1 1/2 miles above tbe junction <br /> <br />of the two streams. Bo~b would be rolled earthfill structures with a <br /> <br />combined volume of approximately 3,387,000 cubic yards. The dam would <br />be 172 feet high and at the crest would be 2,200 feet long and 30 feet <br />wide. The dike would be 118 feet high and at tbe crest would be 1,460 <br /> <br />feet long and 30 feet wide. <br /> <br />, <br />,"-, <br />
